WATERTOWN, MA- On March 8th, CatholicTV will air the Episcopal Ordination Mass of Bishop-elect Christopher Coyne.

The ordination Mass will take place at St. John the Evangelist Church in Indianapolis. Archbishop Daniel Buechlein will serve as principal consecrator.

This broadcast will air on March 8th at 12noon on CatholicTV.com and on CatholicTV cable outlets. It will be rebroadcast at 8:00pm later that night.

On January 14th, The Vatican named Christopher Coyne as the new Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. Bishop-elect Coyne has hosted several programs on CatholicTV. He was also an instructor at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts. Several employees of CatholicTV including Bonnie Rodgers, Kevin Nelson, and Jay Fadden had the Bishop-elect as their instructor at St. John’s Seminary.

Bonnie Rodgers said, “Bishop-elect Coyne was one of my first instructors at the St. John’s Seminary Master of Arts in Ministry program. His strong family ties fostered an incredible work ethic. This, coupled with his commitment and energy in sharing the Catholic faith and traditions, made him a great teacher. This will also be a strong foundation as he serves the people of Indianapolis as auxiliary bishop.”

Christopher J. Coyne was born June 17, 1958 in Woburn, Massachusetts ("the city of priests" according to Humberto Cardinal Medeiros, Archbishop of Boston (1970-1983)). He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Boston on June 7, 1986. He holds a bachelor’s from the University of Lowell in Lowell, Massachusetts, a Masters of Divinity degree from St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts, and a licentiate and doctorate in liturgy from the Pontifical Liturgical Institute (St. Anselmo) in Rome.

Pope Benedict XVI named Rev. Christopher J. Coyne, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis on January 14, 2011. He will serve as auxiliary to Archbishop Daniel Buechlein. Bishop-elect Coyne will be the first auxiliary the 250,000-member diocese has had since 1933.
