Braintree, MA (January 20, 2011) -- Cardinal Seán O’Malley will travel to Washington, DC this weekend for one of the nation’s largest gatherings of young people – the Annual March for Life.
Cardinal Seán said, “The March for Life has transformed the lives of many young people who share our deep and abiding commitment to promote a culture of life. I am pleased that hundreds of young people and pro-life Catholics are joining us in Washington to continue the work of changing the hearts and minds of those who have not yet been graced with a commitment to the protection of our unborn.”
Rev. Matt Williams, Director, Office for the New Evangelization of Youth and Young Adults (ONE) for the Archdiocese of Boston, said, “The defense and protection of the unborn has been one of Cardinal Seán’s major pastoral priorities. It has been his hope from the beginning to get our young people actively involved in being Witnesses to Life. I am excited to see so many young people from Boston respond to Cardinal Seán’s invitation to join him for this pilgrimage. They are a joy and a gift to the Church of Boston!!! I am so grateful to the Lord for all of the school and parish leaders who have advocated for their students’ and schools’ participation in this event; they are a blessing!”
According to ONE, there will be over 315 pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Boston traveling with the Cardinal to Washington, DC this weekend. These pilgrims come from all over the Archdiocese, consisting of parishes, Catholic Grammar Schools, Catholic High Schools, and Colleges.
