July 6, 2010 - Monuments in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lynn Reset after Vandalism

Update: All Damaged Tombstones Uprighted

(Lynn, MA) July 6, 2010— The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston today announced that as of 11:40 a.m., each of the 105 monuments that were vandalized at St. Mary’s Cemetery over the weekend have been reset.
 
Lynn police received an anonymous tip yesterday morning alerting them to the damage at St. Mary’s Cemetery, located at 190 Lynnfield St., where more than 100 tombstones had been toppled.  The archdiocese is working with local law enforcement officials to locate the vandals.
 
Anyone with questions or concerns regarding the condition of any particular monument at St. Mary’s cemetery is encouraged to contact the Catholic Cemetery Association of the Archdiocese of Boston at 781-322-6300.
 
Lynn police are asking for the public's assistance in tracking down the vandals by reporting information to 781-595-2000 or by sending an anonymous tip by texting the word tiplynn and the information to tip411 or 847411. Anonymous tips can also be submitted from the police department's web site at www.lynnpolice.org and clicking the submit tip icon.
