Announcement weekend for the Catholic Appeal
Archbishop Richard G. Henning, S.T.D. will celebrate his first St. Patrick's Day Masses as Archbishop of Boston. He will also participate in the annual Scituate St Patrick's Day Parade. His schedule over the weekend leading into the Mass at the Cathedral on Monday, March 17 follows: Saturday, March 15 4:30pm Mass St. Mary of the Nativity in Scituate, 1 Kent St, Scituate, MA (parish website link here) Shamrock Mass which includes the blessing of shamrocks This is also announcement weekend for the 2025 Catholic Appeal (appeal link here) Sunday, March 16 1:00pm Parade Scituate Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade Kicks off at Veterans Memorial Gym, 327 First Parish Rd (the old Gates Intermediate School). For more details on the parade click here. Monday, March 17 12noon Mass Cathedral of the Holy Cross, 1400 Washington St, Boston (homepage link here) Archbishop Henning is the main celebrant. Reverend Seán Maher will serve as the homilist. Born and raised in Ireland, Fr. Maher was ordained to the priesthood in the Archdiocese of Boston in 2009. He currently is the pastor of the St. J's Collaborative which includes the parishes of Our Lady of Grace in Groton-Pepperell-Dunstable and Saint John the Evangelist in Townsend-Ashby. When: Annual St. Patrick's Day Mass at noon on Monday, March 17. Location: Cathedral of the Holy Cross, 1400 Washington St, Boston, MA. Mass will include the blessing and distribution of shamrocks, a harpist, bagpipes, and Irish step dancers. Since Saint Patrick is the patron saint of the Archdiocese of Boston, his memorial is celebrated as a Feast. In addition to the Cathedral Choir, the Mass will feature Irish musicians Irish Tenor Ciarán Nagle (formerly of Riverdance and the Three Irish Tenors) and Irish Folk musicians: Tara Novak, fiddle and Dan Meyers, uilleann pipes, whistle.
