On Tuesday, April 6, a new original series called The Nomadic Monk will premiere on the CatholicTV Network and The CatholicTV Network YouTube channel. The 7-part adventure series follows Fr. Nathan Sparks, SJ on seven solo expeditions into the American wilderness. Fr. Sparks currently teaches Greek and Latin at Boston College High School and shares his writing and photography on Instagram at @the.nomadic.monk. The Nomadic Monk will be the first CatholicTV show to premiere both on TV and YouTube.

In the summer of 2020, Fr. Nathan Sparks took a spiritual pilgrimage through several National Parks and wilderness areas, camping for 40 nights and driving more than 12,000 miles. The Nomadic Monk documents Fr. Sparks’ experiences amidst the beauty of creation and the challenges of survival and explores the great themes of the spiritual life. Each episode combines breathtaking video with reflections on how the landscapes relate to the inner geography of the soul. Locations featured in the series are: Wind River Range, Wyoming; Canyonlands National Park; Redwoods National Park; Olympic National Park; Mt. Adams, Washington; and Beartooth Mountains, Montana.

Reflecting on the show, Fr. Nathan Sparks said, "This series is, in so many ways, a culminating expression of my search for the Creator whom I have always encountered in the solitude and beauty of the wilderness.”

The Nomadic Monk premieres on CatholicTV and YouTube on Tuesday, April 6 at 8pm ET. It rebroadcasts on CatholicTV Wedenesday at 7am, Friday at 6am, and Saturday at 11:30am ET. New episodes premiere weekly on Tuesdays, both on CatholicTV and YouTube. CatholicTV is available on cable, CatholicTVLIVE.com, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, and iOS and Android.
