BOSTON (May 13, 2013) - Each spring, an inner-city parish with limited resources is chosen for Parish Service Week, in which archdiocesan employees who work in the Pastoral Center, including Cardinal Seán, spend a day helping out in the parish, doing landscaping, painting, cleaning up, and engaging in other necessary and perhaps neglected maintenance work. This year, employees are helping out at St. Patrick Parish in Roxbury, where the Pastor is Fr. Walter Waldron. Service week is particularly poignant this year as just last week, Barry Brinson, a 7th grade student at the parish school was killed in a tragic car accident in Allston. After the spring cleaning, which was scheduled several weeks ago for the parish, Cardinal Seán visited St Patrick School spending time with students and with the classmates of Barry Brinson. The Cardinal shared his blessing on the class, staff, and their teacher.
