WATERTOWN, MA- On December 10th, a new play about legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi will be discussed on the live CatholicTV talk show “This is the Day”.
Co-producers Fran Kirmser and Tony Ponturo will discuss the new play “Lombardi” on This is the Day.
While most football fans know who Vince Lombardi is, few people know that Lombardi was a Catholic who entered Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception, a six-year secondary program to become a Catholic priest. After two years at Immaculate Conception, Lombardi decided not to pursue this path and transferred to St. Francis Prep, where he was a standout on the football team.
Lombardi Co-Producer Fran Kirmser has worked for over fifteen years, producing, promoting and fundraising for theatre and dance. Through Fran Kirmser Productions, she has facilitated the work of hundreds of artists to the stage. A fixture in the arts, she started her professional career at the age of fourteen as a dancer. In 1999, she co-founded “a playground for passion:” Manhattan Theatre Source, a 60-seat theatre and arts service organization still in operation in Greenwich Village.
Co-Producer Tony Ponturo has been a leader in the business of sports and entertainment for over 30 years, first in the advertising world, then at Anheuser-Busch and now as the founder and CEO of the New York-based sports, entertainment and producing firm, Ponturo Management Group. In addition to LOMBARDI, Ponturo is currently a producer of the 2010 Tony Award®-winning musical Memphis and was a part of the producing team of the 2009 Tony Award®-winning revival of Hair, along with his wife Ruthe.
