The 2013 Major League Baseball World Series continues a storied history of the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals playing in the fall classic. In recognition of the teams again competing for the championship, the Most Rev. Robert J. Carlson, Archbishop of St. Louis, has proposed a friendly wager with Cardinal Sean O’Malley, Archbishop of Boston, that the archbishop whose team loses the series personally make a $100 donation to the Catholic Charities of the winning team’s archdiocese.
Catholic Charities in Boston and St. Louis, and throughout the United States, provides a broad spectrum of social service care to thousands of individuals and families. Every gift matters for the mission of Catholic Charities and for the people who turn to the Church for assistance in times of need.
