(Braintree, MA - September 22, 2016) -- The Clergy Health and Retirement Trust will host its eighth annual dinner in Celebration of the Priesthood at the Seaport World Trade Center this evening. The dinner—consistently one of the most well-attended dinner fundraisers in the city of Boston—will draw an expected 1,500 guests. A 5:30pm reception will be followed by dinner and program starting at 7pm.
Celebration of the Priesthood
Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley will offer remarks and the keynote speaker will be special guest Timothy P. Shriver, Ph.D., Chairman of the Special Olympics. Co-Chairs of the event are Gloria and Chuck Clough. The Cloughs are parishioners at Holy Family Parish in Concord, where Chuck serves as a Deacon. Chuck also is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Clough Capital Partners, L.P.
The proceeds from this event directly benefit the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust, which cares for the health and well-being of the more than 600 active and senior priests of the Archdiocese of Boston. Independent from other archdiocesan entities, the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees including local business leaders and priests.
Celebration of the Priesthood video
The video that will be shown at this year’s dinner builds on the theme of the Jubilee Year of Mercy and will invite an even deeper understanding of and appreciation for the priesthood. Truly, God’s mercy works through our priests, and in turn, affects each of our lives as Catholics.
The video follows four priests who embody the grace of God’s mercy throughout their vocations. Fr. John MacInnis’ parish opened a soup kitchen and opened his parish’s Church doors all day. Fr. Adrian Milik visits prisons and provides spiritual healing and hope to inmates. Fr. Sinisa Ubiparipovic guides and administers to the youth of his parish, who are yearning for spiritual formation and connection. And Msgr. McDonough talks about his time as an Air Force chaplain.
