Virtual Event Supports Health and Wellbeing Active and Senior Priests

On September 29, 2020, former Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford Jr., will headline the Celebration of the Priesthood Dinner, an annual fundraising event that honors the nearly 540 active and senior priests in good standing who have worked tirelessly to strengthen their communities across Greater Boston. All proceeds from this event go to the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust – an independently managed trust with a majority lay board of trustees, overseeing funds used for the sole benefit of the health and well-being of active and senior priests in good standing.

“General Joseph Dunford is an American hero who has led the men and women of the armed forces with great dignity and a deep faith and trust in God,” said Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley, OFM Cap, Archbishop of Boston. “Boston born and raised in Quincy, General Dunford is the product of our Catholic schools who dedicated more than forty years of service to the defense of our nation. We are blessed by his service to God and country and his admiration and support for the priests who had a positive impact in his life.”

Clergy Health and Retirement Trust

The Clergy Health and Retirement Trust is comprised of four individual trust funds: the Clergy Benefit Funding Trust, the Clergy Medical/Hospitalization Trust, the Clergy Retirement Trust, and the Regina Cleri Trust. These Trusts finance the health, welfare, and retirement benefits of all active and senior priests in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston (RCAB) who are in good standing.
