Responsibilities:
The Coordinator will serve as a full-time member of the parish staff, reporting to the pastor.
Coordinate and facilitate youth ministry and faith formation programs for middle school grades 6 – 8, and high school students including Confirmation preparation.
Programs are currently held on Sunday and Thursday evenings.
In the Archdiocese of Boston, the age of Confirmation is changing from Grades 10 to Grade 8, over the course of the next three years. St. Agatha’s will be preparing both rising 8th and 9th graders to receive the Sacrament in Spring 2025.
Implement youth ministry programs that help students be faithful disciples of Christ (including service outreach) and engage students in the life of the parish.
Provide opportunity for youth to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on an annual basis.
Build on and grow the existing Mission Leadership Team of high school students who plan and lead service initiatives.
Plan and attend occasional longer off-site events such as summer service trips, day trips, diocesan youth events.
Coordinate, recruit, train, and support adult volunteers who will serve in ministry programs as catechists, youth group volunteers, and event chaperones.
Perform administrative tasks associated with youth ministry programs including communication of program information to parents and parish staff.
Keep up to date with Archdiocesan guidelines, resources, and news.
Work in collaboration with the Faith Formation Grades 1-5 team to ensure consistency across all grade levels.
Qualifications:
A Catholic with a personal relationship with Jesus who actively participates in the sacramental life of the Church.
Desire to bring youth and parents closer to Christ.
Significant knowledge of and faithfulness to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Any applicant with youth ministry experience, with references, will be given consideration regardless of degree.
Strong work ethic, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) as well as Social Media platforms (Constant Contact, Facebook, etc.)
General understanding of program finances, budgets, expenses and revenue through program fees and fundraising events.
Hospitable, compassionate, and relates well with others.
Availability on weeknights and weekends during the school year as well as longer time periods (days to a week) in the summer.
