Installation Mass

Archbishop-designate Richard G. Henning will be installed as the tenth bishop and seventh archbishop of the Archdiocese of Boston on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024. The Installation Mass will be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. Due to limited space, the Installation will be by invitation only, yet participation in the event is possible at one of the watch parties listed below.   We are truly sorry that we cannot accommodate everyone at the Cathedral.  

Please contact the parishes directly for more information regarding these watch parties:  

• Saint Francis, Braintree
• Saint Anthony, Cambridge
• Saint Julia, Weston
• Saint Theresa, North Reading
• All Saints, Haverhill

You are invited to watch the Installation Mass live with this link from CatholicTV, beginning with the procession at 1:30 p.m.

Please note the following details regarding the Installation Mass and Reception:

• Invitations will go out Sept. 16
• RSVPs are due by Oct. 7
• Doors to the Cathedral open at 12:00 PM
• Guest tickets will be checked at the Cathedral's front entrance
• The procession begins @ 1:30 PM
• The Installation Mass begins @ 2:00 PM
• Reception immediately follows at SOWA Power Station 550 Harrison Ave., Boston

Parking is available at the following lots for the discounted cash rate of $15, payable upon entry. 

• 500 Harrison Ave.
• 324 Albany St. 
• 365 Albany St. 

There are other lots available. Please note, that the parking lot behind Cathedral High School will be monitored and is reserved for bishops/abbots only.
