CatholicTV, a nationally-broadcasted television station headquartered near Boston, has been nominated for a “Webby” by People’s Voice. The award is for “Best Religion and Spirituality Website”. The “Webby” was called the "Internet's highest honor" by the New York Times.
The Webby Awards honor excellence on the Internet. Last year, nearly half a million votes were cast and even more comments were posted to mark the biggest turnout in Webby history. Winners of Webby Awards are determined by online voting, which is open to anyone with access to the internet.
The CatholicTV.com website was mentioned in the L.A. Times and Wall Street Journal Digital Network (2-17-09). The website features “advanced streaming video technology, social features to engage a community of viewers, and an updated design that reflects the organization’s philosophy.”
Winners will be announced on May 5th, 2009 and honored at a star-studded ceremony in New York City on June 8th hosted by Seth Meyers.
Votes can cast by visiting http://pv.webbyawards.com/. At the time of this writing, CatholicTV is in 2nd place behind the Religion and Ethics Weekly website.
