Braintree, MA (April 6, 2015). Cardinal Seán O’Malley has announced the appointment of Very Rev. Bryan K. Parrish as Interim Episcopal Vicar and Secretary for Parish Life and Leadership. In this role, Fr. Parrish will oversee and work collaboratively with the Offices of Clergy Personnel and Ongoing Formation, Pastoral Outreach to Priests, Pastoral Planning, Vocations, Permanent Diaconate Formation and Life & Ministry, and the Clergy Funds.

Parrish for his generous and conscientious service as Assistant Vicar for Administration over the past five years,” said Bishop Peter Uglietto, Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia. “He will bring a wide range of priestly experience as well as many natural gifts to this very important ministry in the Archdiocese.” A native of Canton, MA and educated at St. John’s Seminary, Brighton, Fr. Parrish was ordained a priest in 1988. He has served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Mary, Quincy and Saint Paul, Wellesley, and as Pastor of Saint Mary, Plymouth and Holy Family, Duxbury, as well as Vicar Forane in the South Region for a period of 8 years. Since May, 2010, Fr. Parrish has served in the Vicar General’s Office as Assistant Vicar for Administration and Special Assistant to the Vicar General, and as a member of the Cardinal’s Cabinet. His new appointment is effective June 1, 2015.
Very Rev. William P. Joy Named Interim Assistant Vicar for Administration and Special Assistant to the Vicar General
Braintree, MA (April 6, 2015). Cardinal Seán O’Malley has announced the appointment of Very Rev. William P. Joy as Interim Assistant Vicar for Administration and Special Assistant to the Vicar General. Fr. Joy will work closely with the Vicar General and those who report to him in issues relating to Mission & Strategy, Communications and Special Projects, as well as accepting appointment as a member of the Cardinal’s Cabinet. Born in Boston, educated at St. John’s Seminary, Brighton and ordained in 1972, Fr. Joy has served in the Archdiocese of Boston in a number of assignments, first as Parochial Vicar at Saint Mary, Charlestown, Campus Minister at the Harvard-Radcliffe Catholic Center, Cambridge and Administrator at Saint Francis de Sales, Roxbury. Fr. Joy then spent 7 years as Director of Church Affairs for Catholic Relief Services in NY & MD. Since returning to the Archdiocese in 1993, Fr. Joy served as Secretary for Community Relations and Director of the Office of Social Justice and was then named and has since remained Pastor of Saint Angela Merici, Mattapan in 1995 and Pastor of Saint Matthew Parish, Dorchester in 2004. Fr. Joy’s new appointment is effective June 1, 2015.
