"The City of Boston has been greatly blessed by the dedicated service of Police Commissioner William B. Evans, who has exemplified the highest standards of civil service with distinction and honor. His commitment to the good of the men and women of the Boston Police Department, the citizens of this city and all of the neighborhoods they call home is unquestioned. Well known as a humble man who is devoted to his family, his community and his faith, the Commissioner has been a friend to the Church in Boston and to our priests, parishes, schools and ministries. We will miss his presence as Commissioner but are pleased to know that he has accepted the position of Public Safety Director at Boston College.
We congratulate Superintendent-in-chief, William G. Gross on his being named as Boston Police Commissioner. He is respected and highly regarded as an accomplished leader of law enforcement who deeply cares for and is directly involved with all neighborhoods throughout Boston. His appointment will provide for a sure continuance of the Police Department’s work of protecting our citizens and communities each and every day. We look forward to continuing to work with Superintendent Gross as he begins this new leadership.
We express our gratitude to Mayor Martin Walsh for the appointment of Superintendent Gross in furtherance of the commitment to the safety and welfare of the City of Boston and its people. We are blessed by the wisdom and vision of the Mayor’s leadership."
