The Event: A special honorary bench will be dedicated to former Mayor Thomas Menino for his unwavering support for youth at the St. Peter’s Teen Center in Dorchester. The mayor’s public support for the center prompted its formal creation and support that is sustained to this day. The center has and continues to be a safe haven for Cape Verdean youth to further their education and gain valuable life skills.
The event coincides with the Archdiocese of Boston Pastoral Center Service Week:
This week (May 12-16), staff from the Pastoral Center will be involved in annual Service Week activities at the Saint Peter Teen Center and Holy Family Church in Dorchester. Each year the staff volunteers, including Cardinal Sean, assist an inner city parish with painting, landscaping and other improvements.
