In celebration of Our Lady of Fatima feast day, CatholicTV will air special programming including “Fatima for Today: the Urgent Marian Message”. This original three-part mini-series called "Fatima for Today: the Urgent Marian Message" hosted by Father Andrew Apostoli is based on his book by the same name. He carefully analyzes the events that took place in Fatima and clears up lingering questions and doubts about the meaning of the Marian message. The mini-series will air on CatholicTV, Friday, May 11, Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 13.

Fr. Andrew Apostoli, C.F.R., a founding member of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, has been teaching and preaching retreats and parish missions for several decades. He is considered one of the world’s foremost experts on the apparitions at Fatima. He is the author of numerous books, including Following Mary to Jesus and Walk Humbly With Your God. Fr. Apostoli is the vice-postulator for the cause for the canonization of Archbishop Fulton Sheen.

Father Apostoli’s book, Fatima for Today, serves as a definitive reference on the apparitions of our Lady of Fatima. Ignatius Press asked Fr. Andrew Apostoli to “put everything about Fatima” in this landmark work. The book accurately reports, in detail, the apparitions of Our Lady and of the Angel of Peace to Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia. Fr. Apostoli colors his reporting with historical information about Portugal in the early 20th century, and with wonderful portraits of the three young visionaries. In addition to carefully analyzing the events that unfolded in Fatima, Fr. Apostoli also clears up lingering questions and doubts about their meaning – including the secret Third Message and the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Pope Benedict XVI commented on Fatima saying, “For us, Fatima is a sign of the presence of faith, of the fact that it is precisely from the little ones that faith gains new strength, one which is not limited to the little ones but has a message for the entire world and touches history here and now, and sheds light on this history…Even now there is tribulation, in every conceivable form, and power threatens to trample down faith. Even now, then, there is a need for the answer about which the Mother of God spoke to the children at Fatima.”

Our Lady of Fatima is a famous title for the Marian Apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary as she appeared in apparitions reported by three shepherd children at Fatima in Portugal. These occurred on the 13th day of six consecutive months in 1917, starting on May 13. The three children were Lúcia dos Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto.
