BOSTON, Ma —The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston’s Board of Trustees today announced the appointment of Catholic Charities Board Chair Kevin M. MacKenzie as interim president upon President and Chief Executive Officer Deborah Kincade Rambo’s retirement, effective November 30, 2019. Ms. Rambo’s planned retirement was previously announced. While the search for a permanent president continues, Mr. MacKenzie will continue in his role as Chair of the Board while serving as interim president. Ms. Rambo will serve as a consultant after November 30, to assist Mr. MacKenzie as he assumes his new role. "We are grateful that Kevin will assume the leadership of Catholic Charities during this period of transition,” said Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley O.F.M. Cap. “We are also pleased that Debbie will assist Kevin as a leadership advisor, extending her service to the people served by Catholic Charities, which has been her vocation and mission for more than forty years. Catholic Charities serves a diverse community of individuals and families who will benefit greatly by Kevin’s and Debbie’s commitment while we continue the search for the next president of this vital social service agency. At a time when it is becoming an increasing challenge for individuals and families to meet the expenses of basic needs such as housing and food, the dedication and support so many people of good faith provide for Catholic Charities is a gift and a blessing.” Mr. MacKenzie has served Catholic Charities as Chair of the Board since January of 2019 and a member of the board since 2013. Prior to assuming the role of Board Chair, he served as Chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the Executive Committee and Audit Committee. Mr. MacKenzie brings over forty years of expertise as a retired Partner of Ernst & Young. During his tenure with the firm, he held various leadership positions and was a trusted advisor to clients and boards on a wide range of business, operational and financial matters. "It is an honor and a privilege to lead this incredibly important agency as we continue our search for a permanent president," said MacKenzie. "Debbie raised the bar significantly in terms of meeting the needs of the most vulnerable in our society. As a Board, we are as dedicated and confident as ever that the next president of Catholic Charities will build upon the great foundation established by Debbie and her colleagues," he added. Mr. MacKenzie is a graduate of Boston College and he and his wife Sharon have four children and reside in Beverly, MA.
