WATERTOWN, MASS. (September 12, 2016) – On Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10, the CatholicTV Network held a record-breaking Telethon, the twenty-fifth in the network’s history, hosted by Bishop Robert Reed, Jay Fadden, Kevin Nelson, and Kate Andrews. Generous viewers from all over the United States donated more than $319,000 during the two-day event.
The Telethon is CatholicTV’s most important fundraiser. Money raised during the event supports the broadcast of the daily Mass, prayers, papal programming, and other educational and inspirational programming. Viewers donated both over the phone and online.
This year’s Telethon featured a variety of acts, including musical performances by Sweet Harmony, the Ursuline Academy Choral Group, and Diana Doyle, and a magic act by Ryan Lally. The event also included highlights of the network’s regular programming and a look back at CatholicTV’s 25-year Telethon history.
Thanks to the generosity of viewers, the Telethon broke a number of CatholicTV’s records, including most money raised on the first day of the Telethon, most money raised overall, most matching gifts, and most money raised online. The Telethon also set a new record for the most states donating, with pledges coming in from 43 states. CatholicTV is grateful for this incredible outpouring of support and looks forward to bringing audiences more great Catholic programming.
