Sandy’s wind field is moving north and into the Archdiocese of Boston’s forecasted area. Gusts of wind topping out at 35 mph have already been recorded in Boston. Expect winds to increase this afternoon and peak late this evening. Tropical wind gusts are forecasted for the area this afternoon.

Maguire has taken a voluntary administrative leave of absence as a result of a reported allegation of inappropriate behavior in the presence of minors. Fr. Forecasters are predicting that Sandy will head up the east coast, but the exact path it will take is not yet certain. Some models show Sandy making landfall in New England by Tuesday morning. According to a report in today's Boston Globe online edition, towns such as Plymouth, Scituate, Hull and Newburyport are assessing their level of preparedness.

(Braintree, Mass.) October 3, 2012 - Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley announced today that John E. Straub has been named Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Boston. Mr. Straub has served as Interim Chancellor for the past seven months. A former Special Assistant to President George W. Bush and former Associate Dean at Harvard University, Mr. Straub joined the Archdiocese in 2011 as Executive Director of Finance and Operations for Central Ministries. As the sixth lay Chancellor for the Archdiocese, Mr. Straub succeeds former Chancellor James P. McDonough who concluded his service in March 2012. He will serve a term of five years.
